Act 1 Middle School Ministry

When and Where?

Act 1 Middle School Ministry (grades 6-8) gathers Wednesday evenings in Marian Hall (MH). The Youth Night will start at 6:00 and go until 7:30PM. Additionally, youth AND parents join in on Family Faith Sundays (the 1st Sunday of the Month) from 2:00-4:00pm in MH to grow together as a “domestic church.”

Why and How?

The purpose of this ministry, during this period of BIG developmental changes, is to pace these big changes with the Holy Spirit—who is likewise always active, and always making things new. No one understands these kids like the Holy Spirit.

Kids will learn that they’ve been chosen. Amidst any insecurities, or the daily test of new abilities and limitations, they’ve been chosen. Like the new apostle Mathias in Acts 1, they now step into their Church community as they learn and take on the honor and power that they’ve previously only witnessed in others.

We will explore a bit of what they’ve entered with, building bridges between their prior faith formation and everyday life. We’ll focus on accessible and various forms of communicating with God (prayer) and introduce them into relational faith (dialogue and partnering), preparing them with biblical tools as they begin to encounter situations that both challenge faith and enhance faith.

Content is designed to be engaging and memorable, meeting the educational, spiritual, emotional, and social needs of middle schoolers—but always leaving room for the Holy Spirit to speak to and empower them. Kids are always welcomed and encouraged to bring their friends.
