Act 2 High School Ministry

When and Where?

Act 2 High School Ministry (grades 9-12) gathers Sunday evenings after 5 PM Mass in Marian Hall (MH). Teens are invited to participate in 5 PM Mass, go grab a quick bite, and gather back in MH, starting with social at around roughly 6:30-7:00 PM. The Youth Night content will start at 7 PM and go until 8:30 PM.

Why and How?

The purpose of this ministry is to really forge a solid identity within high schoolers. They are entering the age where most faith formation is tried by fire. They will question their faith. Intellectually, our goal here isn’t to fight that. Our goal isn’t even to have the right answers. Our goal is to make sure faith questions are guided toward the objective truths of the Church, and subjectively, to develop a dialogue with the One who walks with them.

Relationally, high schoolers will review the basics of “WHY” they can have faith, with an encouragement to ASK more. Knowing it’s a journey, they will be given constant opportunities to choose it and make it their own, while also being encouraged through testimonies of their mentors and peers.

From that place, they will discover their vocation and the daily promptings and assignments that come out of their unique relationship with Jesus, leading into service, their families, and spheres of influence. We will explore what the Holy Spirit is cultivating in them, as they bring topics of what’s happening around them. With a grounded sense of identity, we’ll then explore opportunities alongside the remarkable weight that Jesus gave in the great commission:

“Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature… These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages. They will pick up serpents [with their hands], and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:15,17-18
