Consultative Leadership

THE PASTORAL COUNCIL is a consultative body to the pastor. Through pastoral planning, the pastoral council assists the pastor in developing and implementing the mission of the parish; forming community as a sign and witness of unity for the larger parish community; providing recommendations for parish priorities, direction and policies; promoting communication and understanding among parish organizations and between the parish, the Archdiocese and the universal Church.

THE FINANCE COUNCIL is a consultative body that provides the pastor with advice concerning the stewardship of the parish's resources. It assists the pastor by conducting long-range financial planning, developing and overseeing the annual budget process, providing analysis of current financial status of the parish and providing financial analysis of proposed goals, strategies and programs of parish life.

THE SCHOOL COMMISSION advises and supports the pastor and principal in the operation of St. Joseph School. The commission helps to assess the needs of the school community and helps to address those needs through strategic planning, consulting on the development of the school budget and formulating policy recommendations. The commission promotes communication within the school community and collaborates with the pastor and the principal in educating the parish on the importance of the ministry of the school.

THE STEWARDSHIP COMMISSION assists the parish in promoting stewardship as a way of life among parishioners through strategic planning, policy development and education.

THE FAITH FORMATION COMMISSION advises and supports the pastor and the faith formation staff in the operation of the Faith Formation processes and programs of St. Joseph Parish. The commission helps assess parish needs for faith formation and recommends policies to the pastor that gives general direction to faith formation in the parish. This is a new consultative leadership body in our parish.

THE LIFE, JUSTICE AND PEACE COMMISSION assists the parish in the promotion and implementation of Catholic Social Teaching. This is accomplished through the education of staff, consultative groups and the parish at large as well as engaging in strategic planning, policy development and recommendations in the area of Catholic Social Teaching.

THE LITURGY COMMISSION assists the pastor in achieving the goal of full, conscious and active participation of the people at liturgy. This is accomplished through ongoing assessment and recommendations regarding the public prayer of the parish community, directing various liturgical committees and developing parish liturgical guidelines consistent with the guidelines of the Archdiocese of Seattle.
