A decision regarding Annulments,
a decision in keeping with Pope Francis’ pastoral message…
On December 8, 2015, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and the first day of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, a very important decision was made regarding fees for the annulment process.
Pope Francis has asked local bishops to do their best to make marriage nullity cases free to the parties. Therefore, Archbishop Sartain has determined that fees will be waived for processing requests for annulment cases in first instance by the Seattle Metropolitan Tribunal. The Tribunal’s expenses will be covered by the faithful of the Archdiocese of Seattle through their gifts to the Annual Catholic Appeal. Because the Seattle Tribunal invests considerable time and money in order to process marriage cases, donations are gratefully accepted to help offset expenses after the process is complete.
